英语写作中“强调” emphasize、stress、highlight、note、notice的用法

一、emphasize、stress、highlight是直接了当地强调，例如：

In his conclusion，Edam emphasized/stressed/highlighted the importance of data pre-processing.（在他的结论中，亚当强调了数据预处理的重要性。）

要注意的是，在写作中指出某某强调（emphasize/stress/highlight ）什么是合适的，一般不建议用We emphasize/stress/highlight……，因为这样口气有点强了，你怎么那么肯定你的观点值得强调（笑）？

二、当要向读者强调什么的时候用note和notice，例如：

Note that it is needed to add more water.（请注意需要多加点水。）

We notice that if we add more water，the taste will be better.（我们注意到如果多加水，味道会更好。）这里把“强调”转为“请注意”、“我们注意到”，没有用力宣示自己的观点，读者比较容易接受。

比较下列句子：

We stress that deep learning is prevalent.（我们要强调的是深度学习已经流行。）

We notice that deep learning is prevalent.（我们注意到深度学习已经流行。）

哪一句读者听起来感到平静些？

三、写科技论文态度要谦卑，语气要平和，要使人读起来如沐春风，所以表达“强调”时要多加注意。当然，如果真正需要加强语气，We （our results) emphasize/stress/highlight that……也是可以的，但最好写成：We need to （would like to）emphasize ……
